19th Trans Sport Show

Smart Communications in partnership with Huawei Technologies, one of the largest telecoms and network equipment supplier based in China, sponsored a product launch at New World Hotel, Makati. This event celebrates the birth of Red Mobile Unlimited – Smart’s means to offer unlimited call and text services through all network *plugging*.

As part of the development team, I was invited to attend the said event and I must say - it was the “finest” product event I’ve participated since I’ve became part of the company.

At the function hall entrance, they held a photo shoot for the guests from where the back drop has prints of Smart –Huawei logo – and of course I am “forced” to pose for a couple of shots (say cheese!). As we entered, I prayed they were ready to serve dinner (I haven’t ate merienda – darn!) but alas they just served finger foods and drinks at that moment. As I “squirmed” in hunger, I noticed some familiar and not so familiar faces from Smart and also Chinese people who I assumed were from Huawei (esp. the cute “chinitas”), at the corner of the hall were “oh-so-cool” Huawei phones and products displayed, and a mid-size stage with glasses of champagne alongside it. The emcee, from w/c by the way was a very gorgeous lady (I forgot her name –sorry), gave introductions on Red Mobile Unli features – the Smart chief wireless officer and Huawei’s president gave their speech afterwards.

Now on the more interesting part, it’s time to eat (Rawwwr!). Served in buffet style, I dug in before I lose consciousness and luckily the wait was worth it. Cakes were also served and I must say it tasted great (esp. the chocolate cakes) – be fond of the one they serve in Starbucks. After the tasty dinner, four “stunning” models in pink roamed the hall as they showcased Huawei’s hi-tech phones (Oh I love…. phones). Before the event ended, guests performed a toast with champagnes at hand to celebrate the successful launch (this was the first time I ever tried champagne) and afterwards; distributed red jackets with Smart-Huawei logo prints as souvenirs (This was my 2nd Smart jacket, my first one is from Smart caravan from w/c we won).

Again, Smart has outdone itself by launching Red Mobile Unlimited into the market. Thanks to the hard work and dedication of Smart and also Huawei teams who partook the project, they’ve made it possible to offer nationwidest unlimited call and text services in the country *plugging… again*.

After her 3 months of stay at Denmark – a friend of mine finally returned home. She was sent by work for some training on logistics and lucky for her, she roamed the streets of Europe as an extra bonus. Though her return was untimely (She suffered an “acute” case of homesickness), I’m glad as it seems her trip does not only gave her the training she need for work but more importantly, also made her realize that she yearn for a dream.

I used to describe her as “kulot ang utak” – as she is the most hopelessly confused person I’ve ever met. A person that can be easily swayed by others, reluctant on her decisions decide – that’s how I knew her. Maybe her living alone gave her some deep thought (I never expected she’s capable of that *joke*) and that she must “tough it up”- to pursue what she dreams in life. She decided to enroll a course on Supply Chain at Saint Benilde.

I realized that there is so much a person can achieve in just 3 months- training abroad, travelling the places only few will ever experience in a lifetime, building a dream. Looking back on my own 3 months, I found that I haven’t done anything impressive for myself. Perhaps like her, I should also step-up – be “larger than life”.

I’ve always been reluctant if I should maintain a blog. The thing is, I’m not confident that God has granted me a writer’s gift to uhmm…… “write”. Though I have experience composing short essays (thanks to egoistic instructors who force their unfortunate students to write essays concerning life’s “important” questions like IF YOU’RE A CACTUS, WHY? Or WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE POKEMON?), that was how far my literary career favors me.

Then why do it?

Simple.

Where’s the fun in not trying?  =D
